Deze Portugese laurier is een uitstekende plant voor in de Nederlandse tuin. De Prunus lusitanica 'Angustifolia' groeit op vrijwel iedere ondergrond en kan goed tegen overmatig veel vocht. In de volksmond staat de Prunus lusitanica 'Angustifolia' beter bekend als de Portugese laurier.
